This is the one I use for basic knee sprains, knee arthritis, or as a general sports support. It’s a basic unhinged knee support that doesn’t restrict much knee movement or function, so you can stay active in it. It’s very comfortable thanks to the soft fabric and the open patella cut-out, and the four straps make it easy to adjust to get a good fit.

What I like

  • Soft, breathable fabric that’s comfortable to wear for longer
  • Open patella (kneecap) cut-out with a gel pad, so there’s no pressure over the front of the knee
  • Four adjustable straps, so it’s easy to fine-tune the fit
  • Side stabilisers that support the knee without stopping it bending
  • Non-slip silicone strips to help it stay in place
  • Doesn’t restrict normal movement, so good for walking, exercise and sport
  • Fits either knee (unisex)
  • Comes in 4 sizes (S/M to 4XL/5XL)

Things to know

  • It’s a supportive, flexible brace, not a rigid or hinged one. If you need firm stability for a significant ligament injury or an unstable knee, you’ll need a hinged brace and an assessment.
  • For knee arthritis, a support like this may ease pain and give some reassurance during activity, but it won’t change the arthritis. Evidence is limited, and it works best alongside exercise and strengthening.
  • Check the size chart before ordering. Measure and check against the Amazon size chart for your size.
  • If it causes swelling below the brace, tingling or increased pain, loosen it or stop wearing it.

Who it suits: people with knee arthritis, mild knee sprains or general knee aches who want a comfortable, flexible support for walking, exercise or sport.
