This is the full solution: a fully height-adjustable desk that moves easily from a sitting to a standing position, at the touch of a button. Unlike the riser desks, it replaces your existing desk, so the whole surface moves up and down. It comes in several sizes, to suit different spaces.
Spending more time standing in the office has been associated with a number of health benefits.
What I like
- The whole desk moves from sitting to standing height at the touch of a button
- Memory panel: save up to four preferred heights, with an LED display of the current height
- Smooth, quiet motor (under 50 dB)
- Height range of about 75 to 110 cm
- Anti-collision protection that stops and reverses if it hits an obstacle
- One-piece desktop with rounded corners
- Comes with a side hook and a cup holder
- Available in several sizes, from 110 x 54 cm up to 200 x 80 cm
Things to know
- Check the size. This listing is the 110 x 54 cm size, but the desk comes in larger sizes, so choose the one that fits your space and equipment.
- It supports up to about 70 kg, so check this is enough for your monitors and equipment.
- If you’re tall, check the maximum height (110 cm) is right for you. Your elbows should be at about 90 degrees when you stand to type.
- It’s a bigger purchase than a riser desk, so it makes the most sense if you can replace your desk, or are setting up a new space. If you already have a good desk, a riser may be enough.
- The best approach is to alternate. Standing all day isn’t ideal either, so change position regularly, for example, standing for a while every hour, and keep moving.
- Check the assembly requirements, as electric desks usually need some putting together.
- Set the screen at eye level and the keyboard at elbow height. My laptop stand, keyboard and mouse recommendations go well with it.
Who it suits: people who spend long periods at a desk and want an easy, permanent way to switch between sitting and standing.
Compare with: the compact and full-size riser desks, which sit on your existing desk.
